The first game of the night didn't go to plan as Stuart Elmer (17.05) and Craig Topolewski (24.44) comb (20.46) lost against Tom Butler and Roy Goddard comb (23.83), However a much welcome return of John Palmer after a 4 game abscence due to work commitments proved vital for Walton as he was reformed his partnership with Robert Emery (19.72) and normal winning service was resumed as Palmer superbly averaged (30.76) after scoring three 140's as the Walton pair combined (25.67) claimed victory against Keith Ridgway and Andy Reynolds comb (18.67).. Walton soon found themselves 2-1 up as Andrew Currivan (31.63) was on top form pas he and partner Ken Russell (22.22) comb (27.05) won in 37 darts against Dave Orton and Carl Smith comb (24.23).. Last game of the night saw another reformed partnership as Alan Currivan (20.17) and Nick Grainger (15.41) comb (17.88) defeated Phil Halls and Les Atkins comb (18.24) to give Walton a 3-1 advantage..! first on in the singles saw John Palmer (19.53) struggle to find the same range on the treble 20 as he did in the pairs and lost out 3-0 to an impressive Keith Ridgway (25.05) who won the game with a 15 dart leg and scored 8 ton+'s along the way.. next up the in form Robert Emery (22.31) came up against Essex County A player Dave Orton (24.92), 1st leg was won by the Basildon man with a fine 16 dart leg, Emery hit back in 18 darts, Orton won the next leg with Emery then kicking off the 4th with 140,140,100 then left himself 16 on for a 13 dart leg only to rue missed doubles as Orton went out in 20 darts for a 3-2 victory bringing the match score level at 3-3..! Next up was Andrew Currivan (22.54) who has returned to form recently and he continued his winning run as he went 2-0 up against former county man Carl Smith (22.07) but then Smith replied with the next 2 legs hitting a maximum 180 and winning the 4th in 17 darts.!! however in a tight 5th leg decider Andrew held his nerve to claim victory and put Walton back in front! Next on was Alan Currivan (25.05) who played a very steady game claiming a 3-0 victory against Mark Franklin (20.00) with winning legs of 18,19 & 23 as he claimed his 2nd Man of the Match this season for Walton..! Walton 5 - 3 Basildon... Then Nick Grainger (23.93) who was still searching for his first singles victory for Walton finally got his reward as he threw some very good darts against Andy Reynolds (23.76) in an entertaining game as Reynolds won the 1st leg in style with a 15 darter and hitting a maximum 180 along the way, before Grainger won the 2nd leg and then started the 4th with a maximum 180 of his own and went out impressively in 16 darts, Grainger was in no mood to let victory slip away in this game and claimed a 3-1 victory with a 21 dart leg which also secured Walton at least a draw and a point..! next game saw Stuart Elmer (16.35) struggle as he went down 3-0 against Tom Butler (21.78), giving Basildon some hope of a draw needing the last two singles games! However Walton's Ken Russell (22.43) was in good form as he secured victory with a 3-0 victory against Les Atkins (21.60).... last game of the night and Craig Topolewski (22.54) was also throwing some very steady darts but Phil Halls (27.32) was in fine form as he superbly won 3-0 with winning legs of 20,20 & 15 taking Basildon's Man of the Match Award and securing a 6-0 victory for the away side in the 1:6:12 league..... However despite Walton losing both the opening and closing games of the night a great team victory and some very good individual performances as Walton get back on track...! next game is away to Maldon on 6th may..! 1:6:12 RESULT: WALTON 0 - 6 BASILDON WALTON TEAM AVERAGE: (22.14) WALTON TONS: 45 BASILDON TEAM AVERAGE: (22.62) BASILDON TONS: 56 DOUBLES STUART ELMER (17.05) & CRAIG TOPOLEWSKI (24.44) COMB (20.46) 0-1 TOM BUTLER & ROY GODDARD COMB (23.83) JOHN PALMER (30.76) & ROBERT EMERY (19.72) COMB (25.67) 1-0 KEITH RIDGWAY & ANDY REYNOLDS COMB (18.67) ANDREW CURRIVAN (31.63) & KEN RUSSELL (22.22) COMB (27.05) 1-0 DAVE ORTON & CARL SMITH COMB (24.23) ALAN CURRIVAN (20.17) & NICK GRAINGER (15.41) COMB (17.88) 1-0 PHIL HALLS & LES ATKINS COMB (18.24) SINGLES JOHN PALMER (19.53) 0 - 3 KEITH RIDGWAY (8x100) - (25.05) ROBERT EMERY (22.31) 1 - 3 DAVE ORTON (16 dart leg) - (24.92) ANDREW CURRIVAN (22.54) 3 - 2 CARL SMITH (180) - (8x100) - (22.07) ALAN CURRIVAN (25.05) MOM 3 - 0 MARK FRANKLIN (20.00) NICK GRAINGER (16 dart leg) - (180) - (23.93) 3 - 1 ANDY REYNOLDS (15 dart leg) - (180) - (23.76) STUART ELMER (16.35) 0 - 3 TOM BUTLER (21.78) KEN RUSSELL (22.43) 3 - 0 LES ATKINS (21.59) CRAIG TOPOLEWSKI (22.54) 0 - 3 PHIL HALLS (15 dart leg) - (27.32) MOM MEN'S TEAM LEAGUE 15TH APRIL 2009 AWAY VS HARLOW AT HARLOW TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB WALTON 2 - 10 HARLOW Walton slumped to a 10-2 defeat away to B division league leaders Harlow as Walton struggled to find their feet and get into the match. HOME VS ORSETT AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 2 - 10 ORSETT
Walton were at home against Orsett who have been in great form as they are currently sitting in 3rd place in the B division. Walton were missing Dave Tottman and again Craig Topolewski, however they did welcome new signing Nick Grainger who completes the tendring trio having played for Clacton, Harwich and Now Walton in the Essex Superleague.. The first game of the night saw Walton's in form pairing of John Palmer (23.54) and Robert Emery (20.29) comb (22.02) narrowly miss out against Wayne Gleed and Harry Miles comb (21.76) as John Palmer was unlcuky missing double 10 for 120 finish. Walton were soon level as stuart Elmer (18.52) and Mark Davies (18.56) comb (18.54) claimed victory against Paul Oakley and Gary Payne comb (19.29). Then Ken Russell (21.53) and Andrew Currivan (19.87) comb (20.70) couldn't do to much as Gary Miles and Daniel Bailey comb (31.28) won in just 32 darts! last pairs on for Walton was Alan Currivan (25.52) and debutant Nick Grainger (21.67) comb (23.60), the pairing scored well as they kept on close on the heels of Simon Pratt and Michael Giesen comb (25.02), Grainger scored 4 tons before the Walton pairing missed 9 darts at doubles to level the match and the Orsett pairing took the honours. Walton 1 - 3 Orsett.... ! 1st on for Walton in the singles was Mark Davies (19.27) who has found his feet again over the last few weeks, and he was rewarded with a much deserved 3-2 victory as he defeated Daniel Bailey (19.90) in a tight 5 leg game.. Robert Emery (24.10) who has been so reliable all season for Walton opened up in the his 1st leg with an 18 dart leg, however Michael Giesen (23.36) won the second leg as both players struggled to get to grips., Giesen then took the 3rd leg with a great 16 dart leg before Emery responded with the 4th in 21 darts, the 5th leg saw both players score heavily before Giesen picked out a maximum 180 on his way to victory in 18 darts... Walton were now 4-2 down but were confident with John Palmer (19.49) up next, things didn't go to plan as Simon Pratt (20.04) won the 1st leg and then went 2-0 up, and it was the Orsett player who claimed a 3-0 victory as Palmer struggled to find his range recording a 19 average having previously never averaged under 20 playing for Walton.! Walton were now 5-2 down and up against it!! The next game was a clash of Youth players as Andrew Currivan (22.03) came up against fellow Youth County Player Harry Miles (28.99)! Miles hit a maximum 180 in the 1st leg but Currivan held his nerve to take a 1-0 lead, Miles soon hit back with a good 17 dart leg before following up with a second maximum 180 in the 3rd as he won superbly in 15 darts! Miles did'nt stop there as he claimed victory with another good leg in 16 darts.... Walton 2 - 6 Orsett....! Walton now needed the last 4 singles for a draw! The next game saw Ken Russell (22.72) play a much steadier game after 2 bad weeks, however Essex County player Wayne Gleed (23.86) got himself in front winning the 1st leg in 17 darts, Russell then missed darts at double to take the 2nd leg as Gleed capitalised! Russell then missed doubles in the 3rd leg as Gleed made sure of a 3-0 victory, giving Orsett all the points.. Then Stuart Elmer (23.19) gave a good account of himself as he won the 1st leg in 21 darts with a 93 finish against Gary Miles (25.44) despite Miles hitting a maximum 180! Gary Miles then won the 2nd leg and the 3rd in 17 darts before checking out on 74 to take a 3-1 victory as Elmer was sat on double 16...! The next game saw Walton debutant Nick Grainger (20.31) Rue missed doubles in the 1st leg as himself and Gary Payne (19.14) struggled to get going, however both players kicked into gear in the 2nd leg as Grainger made it 1 a piece winning in 21 darts. Payne then took the 3rd leg before Grainger pulled out all the stops winning the 4th superbly in 16 darts!! a close deciding leg saw the vicotry go with Gary Payne.. Nick scoring 9 x 100+ scores!!! Going into the last game of the night Walton were playing for pride and 3 points in the 1:6:12 League!! a very good game capped off the night as Alan Currivan (24.87) came up against former Clacton player Paul Oakley (24.32), Currivan got stuck in winning the 1st leg in 20 darts and kept up the pressure on Oakley in the 2nd as the Orsett man hit a maximum 180 but missed doubles as Currivan stepped in with a 2 dart 75 finish in a 17 dart leg! the 3rd leg was even all the way but Oakley held his nerve as he went out on 89 in 2 darts with currivan on 81! in the 4th leg Currivan missed 2 darts at topps to win with a 14 or 15 dart leg, however Oakley went out in 17 darts.. the 5th leg saw Oakley on 85 as Currivan was on 185 and hit 2 treble 20's and went for 25 to leave 40 but hit the Bull and scored 170 leaving him on 15, after missed doubles from Oakley ,Currivan also missed his chances as the Orsett man claimed a 3-2 victory as both players scored 10 Ton+ scores a piece!! Walton 2 - 10 Orsett.... Mark (stax) Davies got back to winning ways as he claimed victory in the pairs and singles.... a good team performance but doubles needed to be hit against the impressive Orsett team....

HOME VS MALDON AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 7 - 5 MALDON
This week Walton welcomed Maldon to the Thorpe Sports and Social Club with both teams desperate for the points to move up the table, and with Maldon currently sitting in sixth place only 1 point ahead of Walton in seventh the outcome of the match was going to be crucial for both sides, especially as Walton are trying to climb back up the League after starting the season looking promising before a slump saw them fall dramtically down the B division League Table, However Walton were confident going into this match as Maldon were missing Key players Andy Cole and PDC star Colin Lloyd along with the fact that Walton have only lost 1 game at home all season.! The first game of the night went in favour of the homeside as Walton's Alan Currivan (21.00) and Mark (stax) Davies (18.96) comb (20.02) found a way past Maldon's Carl Jasper and James Wright comb (18.49). Then Maldon pulled one back as Walton's Dave Tottman (19.13) and Thomas Armstrong (15.74) comb (17.53) missed doubles as Terry Pratt and Michael Crew comb (17.88) capitalised. Then the formidable partnership of John Palmer (19.67) and Robert Emery (29.40) comb (24.41) continued as they defeated John Abbott and Graham Bacon comb (20.92) in 41 darts as the Walton pair have never lost a pairs game together in the Essex Men's Superleague..! Walton then found themselves 3-1 in front as Kenny Russell (19.17) and Andrew Currivan (26.67) comb (22.75) defeated Kevin Cottiss and Kevin Whiteley comb (21.26). The first game in the Singles saw Robert Emery (23.12) continue his superb run of form this season as he defeated Terry Pratt (16.91) 3-0 which helped his push for a place representing Walton in the Champion of Champions comeptition at the end of the season..! Then Mark (stax) Davies (22.43) who has started to show his return to form recently produced another steady game and was unfortunate as he lost out 3-0 against Graham Bacon (24.24)... Alan Currivan (21.94) missed doubles in the first leg to break the throw and soon found himself 2-0 down against John Abbott (21.44), however the Walton player didn't give up and kept the game alive as he finished superbly with a 114 checkout in an 18 dart leg! unfortunately in the fourth leg sixth consecutive scores of 60+ including a ton wasn't enough as Abbott won in 20 darts for a 3-1 victory and made the scoreline Walton 4 - 3 Maldon..!! The next singles game was a great watch and close encounter as Dave Tottman (23.44) and Maldon's James Wright (24.25) produced a five leg thriller with a total of 18 x 100+ scores , the first two legs went one each way before Totman went 2-1 in front with a great 17 dart leg, however it was Wright who won the 4th leg and went on to win 3-2 claiming Maldon's man of the match and squaring the match level at 4-4...!! Walton soon got themselves back in front as the returning Stuart Elmer (20.88) claimed his first singles victory in the Essex Superleague with a 3-0 victory against Kevin Whiteley (18.33) including a maximum 180, as Elmer won with three 24 dart legs and could have had a massive average as 21 darts of missed doubles cost him dear, but never the less a great victory for Elmer..! Next up saw the experienced Ken Russell (18.63) struggle as he lost his way after winning the first leg and lost out 3-1 against Kevin Cottiss (21.38) as both players scored maximum 180's...!! Walton 5 - 5 Maldon. The last two games were going to be crucial as Walton had victory in mind.. Walton soon secured a point as Essex youth Captain Andrew Currivan (28.36) has really returned to form recently and he showed just how much as he defeated Michael Crew (21.38) 3-0 including 8x100+ scores with winning legs of 16, 18 & 19 darts for his highest avaerage in the Men's Superleague in what was a superb performance under the pressure and gave him Walton's Man of the match..!!! going into the Last game of the night with both teams having everything to play for a close game was to be expected... Walton John Palmer (24.35) won the first leg before Carl Jasper (20.46) won the second leg in 17 darts! Palmer then pushed in front again as he replied with a 17 dart leg of his own, Jasper then won the fourth in 20 darts taking the game all the way to the decider! Palmer showed control as he claimed the victory for Walton winning 3-2 including 8x100+ scores...!! a great victory for Walton as they move from 7th in the league table upto 5th, and also move into 6th place in the 1:6:12 League table...!!!

Then Kenny Russell (20.05) and the impressive Andrew Currivan (31.11) comb (25.15) missed out for the 2nd week running despite another good performance as Dave o'Meara and Tommy Butler comb (25.02) gave Basildon a 2-0 lead!! John Palmer (20.70) and Robert Emery (25.00) comb (22.75) continued there unbeaten run as they despatched of Dave Orton and Carl Smith comb (23.46)!! then Dave Tottman (19.86) and Thomas Armstrong (18.52) comb (19.19) struggled against Phil Halls and Leslie Atkins comb (22.75).... Walton were 3-1 down going into the singles... 1st singles saw an impressive return to form for Andrew Currivan (24.49) as he defeated 180 scoring Dave o' Meara (24.56) 3-2 also taking Walton's man of the match honours! Then John Palmer (23.69) overcame Essex County A man of the match against Cheshire Dave Orton (24.81) 3-1 aided by a 110 finish after Orton had won the 2nd leg in 14 darts!1 this is the second time this season Palmer has got the better of the County Man..!! 3-3!!!Then Kenny Russell (15.77) who wasn't 100% fit, struggled as he lost out 3-2 against Andy Reynolds (17.16)... Thomas Armstrong (17.64) didn't make the most of his opportunity to break into the tem as he lost 3-0 to Carl Smith (21.17)...! HOME VS HARLOW AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 6 - 6 HARLOW
This week Walton were fired up for the home tie against B division league leaders Harlow, having lost to Harlow in everyone of the 3 meetings between the two sides since joining the Essex Superleague Walton were out to try and get the better of them this time!. The first game of the night saw Alan Currivan (18.25) and Mark (stax) Davies (18.14) comb (18.20) come flying out of the starting blocks as they scored 503 and completed half of the 1001 leg after just 12 darts as Davies scored a Maximum 180! however they soon took both feet of the pedals and nearly crashed as Graham Wilson (14.86) and Steve Pryde (20.40) comb (17.49) started to claw themselves back into the game before both pairs struggled on doubles before finally Alan Currivan saved the blushes of the Walton pair who could have had a superb average had they finished sooner!! The next game saw Ken Russell (24.57) and Andrew Currivan (22.14) comb (23.36) play a very good game against Ian Clarkson (24.28) and Dickie Foster (24.55) comb (24.41) as 3 darts at double tops was the difference as the Harlow pairing made the game level. Then Karl Mullenger (19.51) and Craig Topolewski (18.96) comb (19.25) all struggled on finishing but managed to gain victory against Ron Green (18.81) and Matt Bacon (15.18) comb (17.00). Walton were in a 2-1 lead with the last pairs looking like a very close match up! and this proved to be the case as John Palmer (22.38) and Robert Emery (26.55) comb (24.41) scored very heavily against the resistant pairing of Alex Hogg (24.66) and Essex County B player James Jennings (25.72) comb (25.15), however the Walton pairing continued their unbeaten record and extended the homesides lead to 3-1...!!! with the B division leaders trailing they were going to be up for a battle in the singles! this was to be the case as the 1st game was a great spectacle as Walton's Alan Currivan (27.12) came up against an outstanding performance from Alex Hogg (32.67) who won the 1st leg in 15 darts, followed by the 2nd in 15 darts again as Currivan tried to pressurise scoring 140, 100, 137 leaving himself 42, but Hogg wasn't missing a thing! and Hogg saw the game out in great style as he won the 3rd leg in 16 darts for a 3 dart average of (98.01) as Currivan was left on 82 and not getting a throw at a double against the Harlow Man of The Match..! The next game saw Karl Mullenger (18.74) struggle to find his usual range around the treble 20 as he fell short going down 3-1 to Dickie Foster (21.58) who hit a maximum 180 on his way to victory. With the game back level at 3-3 Walton were looking to the former Essex, London & Hertfordshire County player Kenny Russell (24.51) to give them the lead once again! things didin't start well for Walton as Ron Green (19.74) went off with a 180 in his first 3 darts and won the leg in just 17 darts! however as the games go on Russell is slotting back into the Superleague scene like a duck going back into water, and he found 4 ton+ scores in the 2nd leg as he won well in 18 darts, Russell then pushed himself 2-1 in front with another good leg, this time winning in 19 darts before wrapping the game up superbly as he hit his 1st maximum 180 as a Walton player and claimed a 3-1 victory with a 21 dart leg and taking Walton's Man of The Match Honour..! Next game saw Robert Emery (18.79) who has got a great singles wins record season go 2-0 down against Steve Pryde (19.27), however Emery never gives up and he showed character as he got the game level at 2-2, and he stormed off with the scoring in the deciding leg before stumbling with the finishing as Pryde claimed the victory. Walton 4 - 4 Harlow.... Mark (stax) Davies (15.99) was out of sorts as he struggled to find his normally very capable high scoring power, and lost out 3-1 to former England Youth player James Jennings (18.69). Then last week's Man of the match Craig Topolewski (19.44) hit another maximum 180 in the 1st leg before struggling to finish as Harlow's captain Tommy Jennings (16.93) took his chance. But Topolewski soon dug deep and battled for his team as he won the next 3 legs for a 3-1 victory making the match 5-5!! Walton soon guaranteed a point in the bag as John Palmer (20.31) claimed a 3-0 victory against Harlow's Graham Wilson (16.64) meaning Walton had at least a point guaranteed with 1 game to play!! The last game of the night was another good watch as Andrew Currivan (24.15) left himself Tops after 15 darts only to watch former Hertfordshire County Player Ian Clarkson (28.90) take the leg in 14 darts!! Clarkson then won the 2nd in 20 darts before winning 3-0 with a good 18 dart leg as Andrew Currivan didn't do much wrong and didn't get to throw a dart at a double!!! Overall a good performance and a very good match, with averages ruined due to many missed doubles! But Walton remain unbeaten in the League so far in 2009! with much more to come.

HOME VS THURROCK AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 6 - 6 THURROCK
Walton's first League match of 2009 was a home tie welcoming Thurrock to the Thorpe Sports And Social Club. The New Year brings with it some changes in personnel, Ken Russell who made his Walton debut in the Knockout cup the week before was set to make his full league debut for Walton along with another Walton debutant Karl Mullenger. So with the Walton squad at its strongest since joining the Superleague with 2 Quality players joining in the January sales it was now down to the team to get some vital league points back on the board. The first game of night didn't go to plan for the homeside as Ken Russell (50.33) and Alan Currivan (66.20) comb (57.54) were unable to stop the impressive duo of Michael Squelch (99.33) and Keith White (75.93) comb (88.32) who completed the 1001 leg in 34 darts. Walton were instantly put back on level terms as the unbeaten partnership of John Palmer (75.00) and Robert Emery (68.01) comb (71.49) remained in tack as they brushed past Simon Barry (76.42) and James Myers (44.16) comb (61.68). Then Andrew Currivan (69.87) and Mark (stax) Davies (51.24) comb (60.57) missed doubles as Peter Tompkins (54.92) and Keith Petrie (65.62) comb (60.06) gave Thurrock a 2-1 lead. The last pairs game saw Walton fall further behind and trailing 3-1 as Craig Topolewski (55.50) and Stuart Elmer (62.25) comb (58.89) just missed out against the pairing of Steve Cox (77.37) and Steve Girling (52.09) comb (65.28). At 3-1 down Walton needed to come straight out of the starting blocks in the singles! drawn first to play was debutant Karl mullenger (70.44), who made a perfect start on his first game for Walton with a vital 3-0 victory against Simon Barry (66.99). Andrew Currivan (54.33) put the match back to all square with a 3-0 victory against Steve Girling (48.78) in a match that saw both players on for 12 dart legs but struggle badly with finishing! The next game saw Walton's John Palmer (67.17) unusually lose 3-0 as he was having to play with different darts due to a point falling out of one his normal darts before arriving at the venue.., but taking nothing away from his opponent Peter Tompkins (71.58) who scored and finished well on his way to claiming Thurrock's man of the match!! Walton 3 - 4 Thurrock: The next game saw Robert Emery (64.41) take his impressive wins record to 8 out of 10 as he recorded a convincing 3-0 win against Keith Petrie (55.77) to make the scoreline 4-4!! The match was now getting to the crucial stage where both teams wanted to try and gain a lead and secure a win! Next game saw Alan Currivan (62.88) lose out 3-2 against Michael Squelch (62.76) in a very tight game as both players had darts at doubles to win everyone of the 5 legs played! Then Dave Tottman (53.22) despite hitting his 3rd maimum 180 of the season lost out 3-2 against james Myers (58.32) in another close game. Thurrock were now in a comfortable position leading 6-4 and guaranteed a point, needing only 1 out of the last 2 singles for the win and 2 points.! However Walton Battled back as the highly experienced Ken Russell (72.72) made a superb start on his league debut as a Walton player overcoming the very capable Keith White (58.62) 3-0 and keeping Walton's hopes of a draw alive!! Last game of the night and Walton's hopes were all on the shoulders of Craig Topolewski (74.58), Topolewski found himself 1-0 down as Steve Cox (68.67) broke the throw! However the Walton player soon drew level winning the 2nd leg! Then Topolewski gave it everything he could under the pressure and won the 3rd leg in 17 darts with a great 2 dart 100 finish! Topolewski then showed his class as he scored his 6th maximum 180 of the season and won the game 3-1 with a 16 dart leg, giving Walton a share of the points and a hard earned draw as Craig Topolewski was a well deserved man of the match....!!!

Robert Emery (19.15) also suffered with doubles in the 1st leg as he lost out 2-1 to Andrew Westcott, this meant Burntwood were 9-3 in fron and needed 4 more legs to secure a place in the last 8 at chelmsford! This was helped as Daniel Parker (15.29) struggled losing 3-0 against Mark Banham. However Dave Tottman (22.10) who has been consitent all season dug deep as he defeated Grant Hammond 3-0 to keep Walton in the match and was without a doubt the homeside's man of the match!! however despite Tottman's efforts, it was a big ask for Walton to win all the remaining 6 legs to take the match to a play off, as Craig Topolewski (20.83) came up against former county and PDC player Steve Johnson, who also had the throw, it was Johnson who soon secured Burntwood's place in the next round via winning the 1st leg and then the 2nd, however credit to Topolewski who won the 3rd leg! Last game of the night saw Debutant Kenny Russell (23.75) lose out 2-1 against the impressive John Wastenage, it was a steady performance from Russell on his return to the Essex Superleague ,but once again it was missed doubles for Walton as Russell missed 3 darts at the double in the 1st leg which saw Wastenage take the advantage, but there will be a lot more to come from the experienced Russell during the rest of the season. Its back to League action next week at home against Thurrock.

AWAY VS RUSH GREEN AT THE RUSH GREEN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION & S.C
WALTON 4 - 8 RUSH GREEN
Walton made the trip to Romford to play against Rush Green, with the end result being an 8-4 victory to the homeside. Walton's night didn't get off to a good start as John Palmer rushed back from Lewisham to travel with the team to Romford but by passed the bus as time was running short. Walton did however welcome new signing Stuart Elmer into the fold for his Superleague Debut. First game of the night saw Andrew Currivan (22.20) and debutant Stuart Elmer (30.94) comb (26.34) get Walton off to a great start as Elmer showed his new team mates what he can do with some very high scoring against Trevor Townsend and Dave Phillips comb (19.50). However Walton were then brought down a peg as Alan Currivan (14.54) gave a terrible showing as he and Dave Tottman (21.19) comb (17.64) lost out against Matt Clark and James Thompson comb (21.29).. Mark (stax) Davies (18.61) and the on form Daniel Parker (27.83) comb (22.84) went down in a close game against Steve Woodside and Dave Ball comb (26.34).. The last pairs of the night saw Robert Emery (19.20) and Craig Topolewski (21.00) comb (20.10) struggle to get into the game until suddenly some high scoring pushed them into the game only for Topolewski to narrowly miss double 18 for a 113 finish, as Keith Archer and Steve Enever comb (19.62) took the honours..! Walton 1 - 3 Rush Green.. First singles of the night saw Craig Topolewski (20.87) throw steady as he edged past Dave Phillips (21.91) 3-2 in a close game.. Then Alan Currivan (19.53) struggled against Dave Ball (21.78) missing Tops in the first leg as Ball went out! then Currivan looked in control the next leg before Ball went out sensationally with 124 checkout..! and Ball went on to take the game 3-0. Daniel Parker (22.23) looked extremely comfortable on the oche as he scored a maximum 180 with his first 3 darts and soon found himself 2-0 up! after checking out in 17 darts! But Matt Clark (23.17) was also scoring well as he won the next 2 legs scoring 180's in them both before just pipping Parker to the post after missed doubles from the Essex Youth County player. Debutant Stuart Elmer (21.36) played well throughout scoring 8 ton+'s and traded leg for leg with Tony Forward (21.66) taking the game to a 5th deciding leg! both players scored well and Elmer was very much in the game, but Forward hit a 180 at the wrong time for Elmer and having the throw aswell saw the Rush Green man take the game 3-2..!!! Dave Tottman (22.50) is becoming Mr reliable as he worked hard for a 3-2 victory over Matt Crowley (22.62)...! Andrew Currivan (21.33) threw well but Steve Woodside was in blistering scoring form as he hit 11 ton+ scores including a maximum 180 which helped him to a 3-1 victory.. Mark (stax) Davies (19.45) had chances but went down 3-1 against former County player Keith Archer (21.23)... The last game of the night saw Walton's Robert Emery (25.03) play another blinder as he scored a maximum 180 and claimed a superb 3-1 victory and his second Man of the match performance of the season in defeating Steve Enever (23.14)...!

AWAY VS WALTHAM ABBEY AT THE LARSEN CLUB
WALTON 1 - 11 WALTHAM ABBEY
Walton made the trip to play against basement team Waltham Abbey, but came away without any points and on the wrong end of a thumping as Waltham Abbey showed their quality and fight as they push to climb off the foot of the table. With John Palmer missing for Walton a much welcome return came from Craig Topolewski and Daniel Parker..! The first game of the night saw Robert Emery (16.79) and Andrew Currivan (23.52) comb (19.93) lose out to the convincing partnership of Lee White and Alan Nateghi comb (22.75). Then Alan Currivan (24.10) and Dave Tottman (19.72) comb (22.08) lost out against Manningtree based Nick Groves and Tony Hammond comb (24.41). Walton then welcomed the returning partnership of Peter Smith Junior (18.46) and Craig Topolewski (22.92) comb (20.69) who came close to pulling a leg back for Walton as Topolewski hit his 4th maximum 180 of the season and both players missed darts at doubles before Dave Pinnuck and Cliff Nabb comb (20.85) put the homeside 3-0 in front..! The last pairs game didnt get any better for Walton as Reece Hutchison (22.24) and Daniel Parker (17.10) comb (19.67) went down against Daniel Sare and Scott Clifford comb (23.27)..! Walton 0-4 Waltham Abbey...! at 4-0 down Walton needed to kick off the singles with a win straight away! but this wasn't to be the case as Waltham Abbey's Tony Hammond had his own ideas as he defeated Peter Smith (20.33) 3-0 aided by a 155 finsh and withth an average of (25.91) and taking Waltham Abbey's man of the match...! at 5-0 down Daniel Parker (21.35) had to win to make it still possible for Walton to claim a victory! but this wasn't to be as a close game against Dave Pinnuck (24.50) saw Parker lose out 3-2!! The Robert Emery (21.23) came from 2-0 down against the 180 scoring Alan Nateghi (22.94) to claw back at 2 a piece before losing out 3-2 as Walton lost the match at 7-0...! Craig Topolewski (20.15) struggled in what was his first game of darts since October as he lost out 3-0 to Scott Clifford (19.27)...! Andrew Currivan (22.60) put his bad start to the season behind him as he overcame PDC player Lee White (23.22) 3-1 as he claimed Walton's first point on the board and also claimed the man of the match honours..! Alan Currivan (21.85) lost out 3-1 against local player Nick Groves (24.69).. and Walton's night soon went from bad to worse as Dave Tottman (21.74) lost out 3-1 against former Essex County Player Daniel Sare (21.65). and the last game of the night saw Reece Hutchison (20.45) lose out 3-1 to Cliff Nabb (22.16) who scored 2 maximum 180's and finished the night off with a 16 dart leg.....!! HOME VS DUNMOW AT THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 7 - 5 DUNMOW
This week Walton welcomed Dunmow to the Thorpe Sports And Social Club, and after last weeks poor display away at Orsett both the Captain and vice-captain were looking for the Walton players to stand up and be counted with getting the homeside another win..! Walton did make sure of this as they secured 7-5 victory winning the last 4 singles after trailing 5-3...! The first pairs of the night saw Walton claim a great victory over the Dunmow pairing as Walton's Robert Emery was in menacing form scoring: 83, 180, 100, 140 & 100, 57 which gave him an average of (31.43) however it was partner Dave Tottman (17.05) - comb (24.41) who came up with the goods when it came to hiiting the double to claim victory over Matt Atkinson and Dan Corn comb (22.98).. Then Reece Hutchison (24.92) and Peter Smith (17.52) combined (21.30) over came the experienced Dave Saker and Richard Ward comb (21.53).. Then Mark (stax) Davies (15.70) and Thomas Armstrong (18.50) comb (17.02) struggled as they went down to Phil Barrett and Chris Butler comb (19.25).. Last pairs of the night saw John Palmer (17.96) unusually struggle along with partner Alan Currivan (21.08) comb (19.43) as Dunmow drew level at 2-2..!!! The first singles game of the night was a cracker as Peter Smith (23.62) scored well all the way through but couldn't do much about Dunmow's Dave Saker (29.47) who was firing on all cylinders as he claimed a 3-0 victory with 2 15 dart legs and a man of the match performance..! Walton soon pulled back level as Robert Emery (19.15) despite having a close game with Dunmow Captain Dan Corn (18.42) claimed his sixth consecutive victory as he edged the game 3-2..! However Dunmow soon responded as an out of sorts Mark (stax) Davies (17.91) struggled to produce the darts he normally can and lost out 3-1 against Chris Butler (18.75). Dunmow then went 5-3 up as an unwell Reece Hutchison (18.78) went down 3-1 to the high scoring Mark Harris (20.20).. Walton then knew they needed the last 4 singles for victory! Upstepped Andrew Currivan (17.42) who has fell well short this season compared with his performances last year which took him to the champion of champions, However depsite some missed doubles Currivan got a much needed confidence boost for noth himself and the team as he claimed a 3-1 victory over Matt Atkinson (18.02).. Dave Tottman (21.29) got himself into a 2-0 lead only to get pegged back to 2-2 by Richard Ward (19.84), But then Tottman calmly claimed a 3-2 victory as he won the last leg in 18 darts and made the revival possible ..! next up was Walton's top man John Palmer (29.47) who was in blistering form as he claimed yet another man of the match performance with a 3-0 victory over Tony Hird (23.08) aided by impressive checkouts of 116 and 106 in a 15 dart leg which secured a point for his team! also Palmer recorded Walton's highest individual winning singles average since joining the Essex Superleague..! Walton 6 -5 Dunmow!! so it was down to the last game of the night and once again it was down to Walton's Alan Currivan (23.86) (who has struggled of late) to play for points against Dunmow's Phil Barrett (20.35). Currivan found himself 1-0 up as he hit his 4th maximum 180 of the season, he then won the 2nd leg as both players had darts at doubles, Then at 2-0 up the Walton man scored well as he hit a maximum 177 to leave double topps and went out in a leg of 17 darts giving the Homeside all the points...! a great win for Walton with once again a superb comeback..!!

AWAY VS MALDON AT RIVERS SPORTS AND SNOOKER CLUB
WALTON 8 - 4 MALDON
Walton secured a crucial 8-4 victoy against a Maldon side who were missing their star player Colin Lloyd. After leading their previous two matches against table toppers Harlow and Basildon only to throw away both games when Walton found themselves 4-2 down against Maldon it was looking like another game slipping away, but thanks t some brave and battling performances Walton clawed back to win the last 6 singles games and gave the Captain, Peter Currivan a birthday victory... Walton kicked off the pairs in styel as John Palmer (33.83) and Alan Currivan (24.50) combined (29.44) completed the 1001 leg in 34 darts as Palmer scored 2x 140's and 2 Tons as they defeated Carl Jasper and kevin Whiteley comb (23.33)!! Then Reece Hutchison (19.21) and Dave Tottman (18.81) comb (19.02) found themselves storming in front of Graham Bacon and John Abbott comb (21.29) after 12 darts but only for the wheels to come off as the Maldon pair claimed victory. Mark (stax) Daveis (18.63) and Thomas Armstrong (18.21) comb (18.43) lost out narrowly against Andy Cole and Kevin Cottis comb (20.42) as Walton went behind 2-1..! The last pairs game was as crucial as ever, Robert Emery (19.22) and Andrew Currivan (20.08) comb (19.63) saw off the challenge from Trevor Stacey and Gareth Lamb comb (17.58) to make the scorleine all square going into the singles.... 2-2!!! The first singles game off the night between Alan Currivan (21.32) and kevin Cottis (21.99) was overwhelmed at times due to the noise level and atmosphere of the ongoing football! never the less a high scoring game was played as Currivan hit 2 maximum 180's but missed doubles in the 4th leg to go to a decider as Cottis claimed a 3-1 victory. Next game saw Andrew Currivan (18.85) battle to the wire against Kevin Whiteley (19.86) but after missing doubles in the 5th leg it was the Maldon Captain who won 3-2 and putting the homeside 4-2 in front..! Mark (stax) Davies (22.10) making his return to the singles showed his worth as he put Walton back on track with a more than convincing 3-0 victory against Gareth Lamb (16.59).. (return of the stax).... Then the inform Reece Hutchison (23.89) suddenly found himeslf 2-0 down against a very assured John Abbott (22.51), Hutchison pulled a leg back by winning the 3rd in 20 darts and then grew in confidence as he follwed u with another 20 dart leg with an 80 checkout! and in a high scoring deciding 5th leg Hutchison took his chance as he won in 19 darts in what was a superb comeback and vital victory as he made the score 4-4..! Peter Smith (20.50) then turned Walton's fortunes around as he scored heavily on his way to a 3-2 victory against Trevor Stacey (20.82), as Walton were in front 5-4!! A point was soon secured as the ever impressive John Palmer (25.24) soon raced into a 2-0 lead hitting a maximum 180 along the way! however Palmer then had a minor blip as he missed doubles in the 3rd as his opponent Carl Jasper (21.40) pulled a leg back. However the unfazed John Palmer claimed a 3-1 victory with an 18 dart leg finishing with 117 checkout as he claimed his 3rd man of the match award this season. With 1 game out of the remaining 2 needed Walto were confident a victory would come. Robert Emery (20.31) a man in form was determined to gain victory for his team and did so as he disposed of former Colchester player Andy Cole (20.11) 3-0 as he kept up his impressive singles form winning his last 4 games.! The last game of the night was still very keenly contested between Dave Tottman (21.29) and Graham Bacon (20.59). Tottman went 2-0 up with legs of 21 and 18 darts and was in blistering scoring form as he found himself throwing at topps for 116 finish in what would have been a 15 dart leg for a 3-0 victory and a (27.83) average, however Tottman just put the dart on the wire and missed 6 darts to claim a 3-0 victory as Bacon pulled a leg back.. However in the 4th leg depsite some missed doubles it was Tottman who secured a 3-1 victory and also gave his side a further 3 points in the 1-6-12 league..

AWAY VS HARLOW AT HARLOW TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB
WALTON 5 - 7 HARLOW
Walton travelled to Harlow and came away without even a point in a game where a draw should have at least been the outcome.. As Walton were in a very comfortable position as they went 4-1 up...!! The first pairs of the night saw last week's high flyers Reece Hutchison (18.62) and Daniel Parker (20.75) comb (19.62) complete half of the 1001 in just 12 darts only to struggle before winning with an extra 39 darts against Tommy Jennings and Chris Forsyth comb (19.60).. The second game of the night saw John Palmer (27.70) score well and miss double 16 for 134 finish as his partner Dave Tottman (14.80) failed to help him out with the scoring comb (21.68) as they lost out to Ian Clarkson and Dickie Foster comb (21.29)... Andrew Currivan (22.16) then linked up with Robert Emery (22.33) comb (22.24) and edged past Ron Green and Steve Pryde comb (22.57) as Currivan went out on 112.... The last pairs saw Alan Currivan (24.33) and Craig Topolewski (26.37) comb (25.02) reform their partnership with a good win against former London and Hertfordshire county player Alex Hogg and Former Essex Youth County man Ronnie Yates comb (21.57).... Walton 3-1 Harlow..... first in the singles again was Reece Hutchison (21.43) against Ronnie Yates (19.36).. Hutchison missed doubles in the 1st leg and soon found himself 2-0 down.! However Hutchison showed his maturity and composure as he came back to win 3-2 and giving the away side a fantastic 4-1 advantage..... Then Craig Topolewski (24.41) locked horns with Alex Hogg (26.66) in a high scoring game which saw Hogg come out a 3-1 winner.... John Palmer (21.14) failed to produce the darts that saw him claim man of the match the previous week as he unusually missed doubles in every leg and went down 3-0 to Hertfordshire County Man Ron Green (22.43).... Walton 4-3 Harlow... Then Dave Tottman (20.77) was unable to cope with England Youth International James Jennings (26.37) who took the game 3-0 with a 113 finish. and bringing the game level at 4-4..! Andrew Currivan (20.86) scored 2x180's and missed doubles in the 1st leg which proved costly as he lost out 3-1 to ex Hertfordshire County Man Ian Clarkson (23.27), as Harlow got their nose in front for the first time in the match! Walton then needed a big performance from Robert Emery, and they got just that as he disposed of Dickie Foster (19.95) 3-0 and won the 2nd leg with a superb 12 darts leg including a maximum 180 and recorded an average of (25.05) which also gave Emery the Man of the Match honour that he also claimed at Harlow last season... 5-5 and everything to play for... next game saw Daniel Parker (18.18) miss vital doubles as he lsot out 3-1 to Harlow Captain Tommy Jennings (18.30), which meant Harlow had secured a draw and once again the pressure would be put onto the shoulders of Alan Currivan (19.90) to win the last game of the night.! with the game getting under way at nearly twenty to twelve, Steve Pryde (22.42) soon found a maximum 180 on his way to winning the first leg.. Currivan then took the 2nd leg making it 1 a piece but then fell away towards the end as Pryde gave Harlow all the points.....!!

AWAY VS THURROCK AT TILBURY SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 8 - 4 THURROCK
Walton made the trip down to Thurrock hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season.. And they did so in fine style as Walton produced their best team performance since joining the Essex Superleague as they recorded 68 tons, a team average of (23.60) and 4 maximum 180's. all of which were achieved by some great games in the pairs and some superb individual performances in the singles as Walton's Youth contingent showed how they have matured within the game since last season. The first pairs of the night saw the Returning Essex under 21 county player Reece Hutchison (27.14) and 16 year old Daniel Parker (22.68) also a member of the Essex youth team ,comb (25.03) produce a great leg of darts as they defeated Thurrock's Keith White and Michael McCombe comb (25.00) to get Walton off to a good start.. John Palmer (26.74) showed great improvement from his previous games in the doubles along with Dave Tottman (26.83) comb (27.05) as they disposed of George Webb and Roy Crabb comb (21.02), with Tottman also scoring his first maximum 180 of the campaign!. However depsite being 2-0 up things didn't go all of Walton's way as Alan Currivan (17.62) continued to struggle in the pairs as he and Robert Emery (24.05) comb (20.83) went down to Michael Squelch and Steve Cox comb (24.41).. then Andrew Currivan (28.90) and Craig Topolewski (16.00) comb (22.45) were indifferent as Currivan scored heavily whilst Topolewski unusually failed to find his range as the pairing lost out to Peter Tompkins and Simon Barry comb (22.75)..... Walton 2-2 Thurrock.........!!! First game in the singles saw Reece Hutchison (23.86) return to the team in style as he defeated Keith White (22.63) 3-0 with winning legs of 17, 19 and 27. and could have had a much higher average as he missed double 16 for a 110 finish and a 21 dart leg in the third..! but still a great game to kick off the singles.. next up saw Walton's youngest member Daniel Parker (23.23) make his first singles appearance of the season after some impressive displays in the pairs.. this was a thrilling game as Parker went 2-0 down to Michael Squelch (21.73) before banging in a 180 with his 1st three darts in the third leg, and also went on to win in 17 darts! Parker then produced a steady 4th leg as he made the game all level at 2 a piece! the 5th leg saw Squelch edge in front with some high scoring before Daniel Parker produced 6 magical darts as he scored 2 more 180's back to back leaving himself on a double after 12 darts, unfortunately Parker missed 6 darts at 26 and Squelch capitalised and took the victory. The next game saw Robert Emery (21.51) put in a steady showing as he defeated Keith Petrie 3-1 to put Walton back in front, Then Andrew Currivan (21.64) got back to winning ways as he just edged past Peter Tompkins (20.48) 3-2 in a very close game.. Meaning Walton were now 5-3 up with 4 games remaining.. Next up saw Older brother Alan Currivan (23.90) continue his unbeaten start to the season as he defeated James Myers (19.78) 3-1 winning the 1st leg in 16 darts and the 4th in 18... Walton now knew they were going home with at least a share of the spoils with a Draw at least guaranteed... Dave Tottman (22.37) was looking to keep his unbeaten start in tack but despite a steady showing lost out 3-1 to Simon Barry (22.23) who also claimed Thurrocks Man Of The Match... with 2 games remaining Walton wanted to get the game won and consolidate on it, It was done in style as John Palmer (28.36) produced a brilliant 3-0 victory against Michael McCombe (23.21) in a high scoring game which saw Palmer score 10 tons in 3 legs and also claim his first Man Of The Match of the season.. the last game saw Craig Topolewski (22.97) make it 3 wins from 3 as he edged past Steve Cox (22.64) 3-2 in a close encounter, as Walton secured a great 8-4 victory away from home which also see's them move up to 2nd in the B division with a game in hand over the teams below them..

Andrew Currivan (22.36) was man of the match and new signing Daniel Muscat also impressed on his Youth Superleague debut. John Walsh kicked his season off with a 2-0 victory against county youth player Peter Browning.... another good performance came from robert Tucker who lost out 2-1 to County Youth player Daniel Parker in his first League game for Walton having come through the Walton Youth Darts Academy ranks.. not a bad start to the season despite losing, still gaining 5 points from the match..

HOME VS RUSH GREEN AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 6 - 6 RUSH GREEN
Walton shared the points with Rush Green in a well earned draw. Robert Emery returned to the side but this time Essex Under 21's County man Reece Hutchison was absent. First doubles of the night saw the in form partnership of Craig Topolewski (25.41) and Peter Smith (21.04) combined (23.28) continue with their success scoring heavily along the way and could have had a massive average had they not used 10 darts at doubles along the way in defeating Matt clark and Joe Dyer combined (21.15). Walton then found themselves 2-0 up in the pairs for the second match running as Andrew Currivan (25.04) and John Palmer (18.75) combined (21.76) got back to winning ways against Dave Ball and James Thompson combined (21.35). Waltn then let the pairs slip as Alan Currivan (17.00) and Mark Davies (22.25) combined went down to Steve Enever and Steve Graham combined (18.86) as Currivan missed 3 darts at a double.. Then Dave Tottman (20.00) and Essex Youth County player Daniel Parker (23.62) combined (21.69) got themselves in front early on only to struggle at the finish as Tottman made a mess of 25 and let Matt Cowley and Dave Phillips combined (22.75) in to take the pairs level at 2-2...! First singles saw John Palmer (20.31) walk away with a 3-0 victory against Steve Woodside (18.68) despite Palmer still struggling to produce the high standard of darts that he is known for! next game saw Andrew Currivan (18.75) who was Man of the match for the Essex Under 18's County side in their opening game also struggle to find the darts that got him off to a flier this time last season and he lost out 3-1to Dave Phillips (19.06).. score was now level at 3-3.! Peter Smith (19.83) kicked off his game winning the first leg only to miss 12 darts at doubles in the 2nd leg and follwed suite with darts on the wire in the next two legs as he lost out 3-1 to Steve Graham (19.44), which saw Rush Green have their nose in front for the first time in the match. Things didn't get any better for Walton as Thomas Armstrong (17.06) who has just returned to the Essex youth side, struggled in his first singles game for Walton and went down to the impressive Youngster Dan Muscat (23.86) who also plays his darts for Barking in the London superleague. Then Robert Emery (22.16) made his first start of the new campaign, and got off to a flier going 2-0 up with two 21 dart legs, but then Matt Crowley (25.26) won the next two with 19 dart legs, and in the decidng leg Emery left himself 48 only for Crowley to finish on 130 with the Bullseye in 18 darts giving his side a 6-3 advantage and looking to ease home with victory..! Walton knew that it was all or nothing with 3 games left in the match... things started well as Dave Tottman (23.68) showed class as he kept the game alive with a 3-2 victory over Matt Clark (23.47) and also made his personal record 2 wins from 2 games.... then the pressure was moved onto the shoulders of Craig Topolewski (21.65) as he was involved in a nail biting game with Dave Ball (21.15) which saw Topolewski come through victorious with a 3-2 scoreline keeping up his 100% record and also set the last game of the night up as a real pressure encounter...! upstepped Alan Currivan (24.91) who has been know stranger to this scenario having played for the draw and or win many times last season and he was looking to amend his poor showing in the pairs.. he kicked off well trailing the first leg before taking his chance to go 1-0 up, then Steve Enever (23.02) made the score level winning in 19 darts, but then Currivan stepped up and showed his bottle winning the 3rd leg in 18 darts with a maximum 180 and narrowly missing double 18 for 116 finish and took the fourth leg in 19 darts for a 3-1 victory which saw him claim the Man of the Match and give Walton a share of the points and also victory in the 1-6-12 league....!! a great comeback for Walton at 6-3 down as they showed character and determination....

HOME VS WALTHAM ABBEY AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 8 - 4 WALTHAM ABBEY
Walton kicked off the new season looking to carry on the way they finished off in the back end of the last campaign. Walton were however missing Robert Emery who was unable to get back in time for the match! however with the returning John Palmer and new signings Peter Smith along with Thomas Armstrong making the switch from Harwich, Walton were still upbeat knowing they were starting the season with a strong team and every one in good spirits. The first game of the night saw Craig Topolewski (23.86) and debutant Peter Smith (26.32) combined (25.02) connect well together as they made light work of Cliff Nabb and N Cox with both players looking sharp on the oche. next up saw the Essex under 18's County duo of Daniel Parker (22.62) and another debutant Thomas Armstrong (21.80) combined (22.24) perform well together as they defeated the tough pairing of Lee White and Alan Nateghi combined (21.92), with Armstrong scoring a maximum 180 at the pivotal moment.. Walton were now 2-0 up and full of confidence with John Palmer (13.22) and Andrew Currivan (24.94) combined (19.08) next in line, however this was not to be the case as the pairing that were so strong together last year failed to gel and something that very rarely happens did as John Palmer struggled to find his range that normally see's him so precise on the treble 20, the Waltham Abbey pairing capitalised with T Hammond recording a (31.80) average with partner D Pinnuck combined (26.34).... Walton knew that if they win the last pairs game then they would be going into the singles in good stead, and it was in the hands of Alan Currivan (20.42) and Mark (Stax) Davies (22.21) combined (21.29) to make sure Walton go 3-1 up. they started off well as the pair scored 5 ton+ scores between them before Davies made sure of it finishing on double 7 and disposing of Kieran Leal and Scott Clifford combined (20.46). The first game in the singles saw Mark Davies (19.53) return straight back to the oche to face Waltham Abbey's N Cox (19.86).. Davies won the first leg on 66 only to let Cox in to take the second. however Davies then replied back as he went 2-1 in front before yet again the darts went with Cox as he took the game to a deciding leg! Davies scored well but Cox hit two 140's back to back as he put the pressure on and got the win for the travelling side. Next up Alan Currivan (20.34) was looking to get Walton straight back to winning ways as he came up against Cliff Nabb (21.03), Currivan started well winning the first leg in 19 darts as he missed double 18 for a 132 checkout, but then lost his way a little bit as Nabb took the second leg, but then Currivan replied with the third leg in 21 darts! only for Nabb to get stuck in winning the fourth in 17 darts before a scrappy fifth leg which eventually saw Currivan take a 3-2 victory and put Walton 4-2 in front.. next up was Reece Hutchison (23.72) versus T Hammond (21.28), Hammond won the first leg in 19 darts and was looking in form, but Hutchison came straight back with the second leg and was unlcuky as he missed doubles in the third which saw him go 2-1 down, however Hutchisn produced a great fourth leg winnning in 16 darts, and once again taking the game to all five legs, the fifth leg was very even with the outcome being a victory for the Waltham Abbey man as Hutchison missed double 11 for what would have been a good win, but never the less it was still a good performance from the Walton player.. Walton 4-3 Waltham Abbey... the game was now very close and could so easily turn around! mext up was Walton Debutant Peter Smith (21.88) against 2008 UK OPEN qualifier Lee White (22.26). Smith was soon off as he hit his 1st maximum 180 but missed double 8 for the first leg as White took the honours, second leg was steady from both players but it was White who went 2-0 up with Smith left on 38. at 2-0 down in his first ever Superleague match Smith knew he needed to find something and he did so as he won the 3rd leg despite White hitting a maximum 180 of his own! the fourth leg both players scored well with White having darts at a double to take victory but failing to do so saw Smith calmly checkout on 78 to take the 4th singles game to the wire, In the fifth leg Smith showed his class as he went off with his second maximum 180 of the game and pushed on to reach the finish line with a 3-2 victory in his first game for Walton with much to the delight of his team mates and the Captain.. Walton 5-4 Waltham Abbey........ the next game saw a very tired John Palmer (21.19) go 2-0 down against Alan Nateghi (24.08)! however even without playing to his true potential Palmer will never go down without a fight and didnt as he thought back winning the next 2 legs and also going to a decider, Palmer then hit 3 straight Tons but couldnt get in front of Nateghi who won in 17 darts to take victory.. Walton were needing 1 more game to secure a draw and 2 for the win from the last 3! and the draw was soon secured with a man of the match perormance from Craig Topolewski (22.96).. Topolewski went off in the first leg with a maximum 180 as he went 1-0 up, but rued missed doubles in the 2nd as Scott Clifford (21.29) drew level !! Topolewski then went 2-1 in front with a 20 dart leg before again missing doubles in the fourth to secure victory,.. the story was much the same in the fifth as Topolewski kept Walton biting their nails before hitting double 4 and securing a point for the homeside.. next up and looking for the victory was the newly wed Dave Tottman (21.34) he was up against Kieran Leal (19.42).. Tottman came straight out of the blocks winning the first leg before Leal took the second as Tottman missed 6 darts at Tops! however Tottman showed great determination as he won the 3rd leg with a great 17 darts and went on to win 3-1 and secure Walton the 2 points..! the last game of the night saw Andrew Currivan (18.86) struggle to produce his heights off last season but never the less he produced steady game and got the job done as he got his head down and defeated D Pinnuck (17.36) 3-1 and made the scoreline convincing with WALTON 8 - 4 WALTHAM ABBEY.... Walton Tons: 60 Waltham Abbey Tons: 51..... Walton also took maximum points in the 1-6-12 league.... in summary this was a good performance from Walton and a great start to the season with some impressive performances and great starts from the new signings especially Peter Smith. the season bodes well for Walton knowing that if they can win 8-4 with some of their top players losing and failing to hit their top form then what will happen when they do hit form..

FRIENDLY 20TH AUGUST 2008
HOME VS SPRINGFIELD AT THE THORPE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
WALTON 2 - 10 SPRINGFIELD
Walton started their preparations for the forthcoming Essex Men's Superleague season with a Friendly versus Springfield. Walton will be competing in the B division for the coming season and Springfield will be in the A division, and tipped as title contenders. With 7 County players in their side of 8 Walton knew this game would be very competitive and a good test 2 weeks before the new season starts.. The first game of the night saw Walton's Alan Currivan (21.61) and Robert Emery (23.67) combined (22.64) come unstuck against 2 of Springfields new signings and both local players, James Noone (28.80) and Andrew Burmby (21.83) combined (25.67).. next up for walton was new boy Thomas Armstrong who transfered from Harwich but also plays for Walton Youth, he was partnered by Daniel Parker. both players scoring well in spurts but Alex tinsley (26.16) and Daniel Day combined (21.30) made light work to give the away side a 2-0 advantage.. next game was promising with John Palmer (24.48) and Andrew Currivan (22.24) combined (23.36) linking up again after recording the joint highest pairs average in the league last season.. they were in a close battle with brothers and county men George & Micky Harris combined (22.24), both pairings missed doubles, before springfield made sure of a 3-0 lead.. Last pairs game saw Peter Smith make his debut for Walton partnering a very impressive Craig Topolewski (32.74) combined (25.02), Topolewski also hit a maximum 180 as he was in impressive form as the duo defeated county captain Darren Peetoom (20.42) and Phil Brewster (28.66) combined (24.24)... The first game in the singles was the one that everyone linked with walton superleague wanted to see with the much anticipated return of John Palmer (25.29), he was up against tough opposition in county man George Harris (27.13).. Harris won the first leg only for plamer to go 2-1 in front with legs of 19 and 16, Harris then took the fourth in 15 darts and went onto win the 5th and the victory in a very good game of darts.. up next was another eagerly awaited game with Walton new boy Peter Smith (22.29) coming up against county man Micky Harris (22.85). Smith started well as he won the first leg in 18 darts with a 75 finish! Harris then won the second, and soon found himself 2-1 up, and then went on to win the 4th for a 3-1 victory with Smith hot on his heels... a steady display from new signing Peter Smith on his debut.. the next game saw Craig Topolewski (18.48) who played superbly in the pairs struggle to get going in the singles as he lost 3-0 to county man Andy Burmby (21.78).... Reece Hutchison (21.91) was looking to avenge defeat against county captian Darren Peetoom who he came up against the last time the 2 sides met at Thorpe... Hutchison played some very steady darts and was unlucky in the 3rd leg as he went down 3-0 to Peetoom (27.33)..... next up Andrew Currivan (20.03) was up against local player and county A star James Noone (21.58), Noone won the first leg only for Currivan to take the second only for Noone to win the third and fourth for a 3-1 victory which gave sprinfield an 8-1 lead!! however Walton were now looking for some light at the end of the tunnel, and it came in the shape of Mark (Stax) Davies who put in arguably his best ever perfromance for walton as he recorded his highest average of (27.58) in a superb 3-1 victory against Daniel Day (21.03) who has represented London and has a great record for the Essex youth team over the past few years....!! then Alan Currivan (22.38) came up against Phil Brewster (28.90), Currivan struggled to find the big scores consistantly as Brewster ran riot winning 3-0 with legs of 14,17 and 21 for a great man of the match performance!!! the last game of the night saw Robert Emery (17.34) come up against county player Alex Tinsley (18.35).. both players struggled throughout as tinsley claimed a 3-1 victory........ this was a good test for Walton before theseason kicks off, Walton Tons: 52 Springfield Tons: 70
