Welcome to My World
of Miniatures.
My name is Terry
Maharas, and I would like to share
my hobby with you .
How I got started? Well it started as a Christmas gift from my wife of the 1/4 inch scale The Greenleaf Village. The Greenleaf Village comes as an unfinished kit of six buildings. Included is a school, church, three homes and a garage. With some paint and glue the kit went together easily . My wife must have liked how they turned out because not long after I completed the village she gave me the 1/4 inch scale The Greenleaf Town kit. This kit added six additional building; a library, fire house, train depot, sweet shop, mercantile, and gazebo. I started to see a pattern forming here. I think my wife wanted a Christmas village. And that’s what she got. One building really caught my attention, the mercantile. It is the only building in the collection that I finished the interior by building counters, and display shelves. That next Christmas my wife gave me my first one inch scale dollhouse, Brimble's Mercantile. And that is how I started my downward spiral into the world of miniatures. I live way out in the country about thirty miles south of Peoria, Illinois. When it comes to miniatures I’m as far out in the boonies as I can be. There was only one store in the area that carried any amount of miniatures and they went out of business soon after I got hooked on miniatures. My salvation came from a small ad in the newspaper announcing a miniature show in Peoria . I attended that show and I found a group of miniature enthusiast that was wild about miniatures as I was. That day I joined P.A.M.S. Peoria Area Miniature Society. I have been a member for over ten years now serving as treasurer and secretary for several terms. I am also a member of N.A.M.E. National Association of Miniature Enthusiast . The intent of this web site is to show some of the projects I have completed and am especially proud of. And I may even include some of my earlier attempts. |
