Joe McFadden - he will make your heart beat
Joe McFadden was born in Glasgow on 9th October 1975, the youngest son of Irish parents. He was educated at Holyrood Secondary School, where his drama teacher recognised his potential, and it was she who was responsible for Joe getting his first acting role at the age of 12 in the police drama series "Taggart".
Following his appearance in the acclaimed movie "Small Faces", Joe won the hearts of many, as Prentice McHoan, the idealistic and sensitive protagonist in the TV adaptation of Iain Banks novel, "The Crow Road". Joe's performance won him a nomination for a Scottish BAFTA, and led to starring roles in "Sex Chips & Rock and Roll", The Law, "The Glass" and "Sparkhouse".
Joe has also trod the boards in many theatre productions and most recently became possibly the youngest actor to play the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", at Edinburgh's Playhouse. It was a role that enabled Joe to demonstrate his versatility with a great all-round performance which called on him to sing and dance.
Joe can be seen regularly on British TV screens, as the latest member of the cast of the popular ITV series, "Heartbeat", in which he plays the new village bobby, PC Joe Mason.
A resume of Joe's other work can be found in the Filmography section.
