After Season Three finished Crossroads 2003 And Beyond went through many changes. Season Four had originally been planned while Season Three was beginning its countdown to its finale. But once the finale happened behind the scenes things were changing. Series Producer, Doug Lambert, decided to take time out and concentrate on other projects (The King's Beat, Canteen Gossip & The Commonside). Staff Writer, Nick Beat, took over the helm and placed Season Four on hold while he reviewed the planned storylines.
New storylines and characters were drawn up but due to lack of time the season was much delayed before launching. It was almost a year before the season finally began but after eight episodes it stopped. Lack of time was a major problem for all the writers. It was decided that perhaps it was time to draw Crossroads 2003 And Beyond to a close, if only temporary. The long road to the finales had begun.
The initial idea was to have two alternative finales which allowed for a future continuation of either. One finale would be written by Doug Lambert and the other by Nick Beat. Storylines and planning for both finales were well underway when this idea was dropped in favour of just one finale. A couple of months later, once the storylines had been finalised, writing began. Only a week later the finales were finished and were three episodes long, instead of the planned two. A major crossover plot with The King's Beat was also introduced to give the episode more dramatic appeal.

(2/3) Max Samson’s exploding car destroys the Police Station reception’s area. Danny Morris holds Max, Natalie, Marc and Ben hostage in an interviewing room. Adam Chance is convinced he’s seen a ghost, Angel is kicked out of Crossroads, disaster strikes at Sugar Way and a host of familiar faces return for Louise Dixon’s party.
