Here are some of the abbreviations and Hebrew terms used at many USY Regional and International events, especially conventions
and Encampment. Once you know most of the terms, it'll be a lot easier to know the
scheduled activities during the conventions.


REB - Regional Executive Board - the group of 6 people who are on NERUSY's executive board
RGB - Regional General Board - the group of people who have specialized regional jobs, such as leading ruach, collecting donations for various events, or making the regional newsletter
IEB - International Executive Board - the group of 6 people who are on USY's executive board
IGB - International General Board - the goup of people who have specialized international jobs, such as making the inernational newsletter

Kima - Wake-Up
Boker Tov - Good Morning
Boker Ore - Response to Boker Tov
Ruach - Spirit/Singing; on Shabbat at USY conventions, there are big active song sessions, which are referred to as ruach
Birkat Hamazon - Blessing After Meals
Va'ad - Committee
Tzrif - Bunk
Leilah Tov - Good Night
Chadar Ochel - Dining Hall
Shmirah - Guard
Tfillah - Prayer
Sichah - Discussion
Yasher Koach - "Keep The Strength Alive" - Well Done
Chalutzim - Pioneers
Siuv - Schedule
Shalom Aleichem - Peace upon you (Greeting)
Aleichem Shalom - Upon you peace (Response to Shalom Aleichem)
