Chapter 1
As time passed my hopes ashened away, burned by the continuous let downs from the ray. One day I would gain ability, the next loss it ten fold. Eventually I learned of others using this dragons machine and through this knowledge made new friend. One was a large beautiful Mare by the name of Anubis. She had the daily job of bringing a temporary family member to the ray, in hopes of changing the once unwanted soul into one who would be accepted by a new home. It was a noble job, one that made me feel as though my motives were selfish. Then…then came that day…it had been raining for five days, lightening and thunder raking the lair. The dragon was angry, tired and not in his normal crazed (but happy) mood as he was. When the ray hit, I was transformed, but also mutilated. The lightening affected the machine and thus, demented my appearance. I was now the same breed as my dear desert friend but my horns….obscure. I pleaded with the dragon, begging him to fire again. In his rage he banned me from his lab, breaking our deal. Alone and homeless I had no where to turn. This is when Anubis arrived once more, her smile just as bright as always. “Come Calliset.” She murmured. “Come home with me…our dear friend has been adopted and I can think of no one more in need of a loving family than you…”

As I mentioned earlier I was in fact a completely different animal at my birth. For those of you neopets bound I was originally a Zafara. My brother, Zovenair was a loving and charming boy. We were both royalty; confined to a large castle in the heart of Meridell. However a time came where I grew restless and could not stand my confinement any longer. I left; breaking the heart’s of my friends. I apologized and vowed to return one day though…not in the form I would later.
I traveled far and wide, soon wanting a new life, a life in the sea. I wished to be turned Maraquan, a very difficult and expensive thing to do. Not having the funds I turned to a more risky solution: The Lab Ray. It was much easier than I expected to find the crazied dragon. I offered him what gold I had in exchange for treatment. He agreed and vowed he’d shoot the ray at me until my dream was fulfilled…
PART BEING RE-WRITTEN!!!
When I awoke there was a fire, and four large cats sat around me. The first to my right was large, shaggy and yellow. Wild stripes dashes across her back and tail, while large fangs and claws glimmered in the firelight. Next to her sat a one that seemed very ancient and wise. Her coat was pitch black, her eyes a dazzling blue. She wore various pieces of gold but my eyes blurred when I tried to focus them. To my admidate right was the largest of the group. This beast was coated in a shaggy black, not as black as the other but rather an off smokey. He too bore large fangs but also large leather wings. Next to him sat the most exotic. She was a deep purple, blue stripes running down her back and tail. Her wings where the most beautiful of feathers, a mix of hues of purple and blue. She too wore jewelry, but most of hers seemed to be feather related. “So the mighty finally wakes.” The one to my left cooed smiled. “Thought you were gone for a second there.” By the voice I could tell it was male, and it was also the voice who had comforted me earlier. “We feared that Kage’s attack would have been in vain.” The darkest of the group cooed. “Oh…look at me…introduction.” She laughed. “The fellow to your left is Sigil Fang, just call him Sigil.” He nodded to me. “To your left is Roz, she’s a pain.” “HEY!” “I am dubbed Stormie and the goddess beside Sigil is dubbed Moonstrike.” She bowed her head to me. “Kage has left to find Anubis I fear.” Stormie continued. “However we’ll be guiding you home so now worries.” A very large lump soon developed in my throat, the nights event’s flashing through my mind. “Don’t worry…Kage torn the brute up pretty well on her own, I hardly had a job.” Sigil chuckled darkly beside her. “y-you mean…”
“He’s not dead.” Moonstrike purred out. “As much as we all wished to destroy that waste he managed to escape.” Roz chuckled. “Yeah…but Sigil, Kage and I gave him a few wounds he’ll have trouble forgetting.” A sigh escaped me, he was still at large…I was still at risk. “Um….Moon…” I asked softly after a time. I was timid and nervous, I’d never spoken about this subject infront of so many others before. “D-d-did he manage…” Moon smiled warmly and stood, Sigil leapting up and moving before she even lifted a paw. “Sweet Child.” She cooed warmly stepping to take Sigil’s place. “You are unharmed, you acted swiftly enough that no harm was done, you are the same as you will forever be.” Relif washed away the lump, I could breathe properly again. “Now…we must all sleep. We have a long road to travel tomorrow…” With that the pride began to drift to sleep, me with them. But that night, and every night after would be haunted by his presence. The brute who I had allowed in so willingly, the brute who’s name I had never cared to learn…. To be continued…
